DESCRIPTION:The organizing committee of the Students Open-Source Conference (sosconf) has announced that the second Chinese Students Open-Source Conference (sosconf.zh 2021) will be held at Southern University of Science and Technology in mid-October 2021. Because of the recent recurrence of COVID-19\, we reserve the possibility to adjust the date of the conference. All arrangements of SOSCONF will be based on the national response to COVID-19 as well as people’s health. Please pay attention to the latest news. \n \nsosconf is the first global open-source technology summit organized by students for the non-profit community. Based on the concept of open source\, the summit encourages students to enjoy open source\, understand open source\, participate in open source\, contribute to open source and get practice and fun from open source. The summit is held in different cities and countries every year to establish an active\, diverse\, and pure technical community focusing on learning and the future for students so that students from different countries can actively communicate\, stand on the international stage\, and show their ideas in the laboratory. The conference was held at the University of Southern California and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. In this conference\, all the organizers\, volunteers\, and speakers are made up of current students. Audience status is not limited. As part of the X program\, Chinese will be the main language used in this event. \n \nSouthern University of Science and Technology (Southern University of Science and Technology)\, located in Shenzhen\, Guangdong Province\, is a full-time public institution of higher learning led and managed by Guangdong Province. It is an innovative University founded by Shenzhen. It is also the first time to hold the Student Open-Source Conference at the Southern University of Science and Technology. \nThe annual conference will focus on the theme of “open source”\, consisting of a keynote speech and an online roundtable. The keynote speech introduces the practice of open-source technology such as open-source projects and the application of open-source ideas. DESCRIPTION:The sosconf.zh 2020\, first annual Student Open Source Conference of Chinese will be held in the middle of May\, 2020 (update: FINAL DATE: Oct 18) at the Qingshui River Campus of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). \nThe University of Electronic Science and Technology and Technology of China\, located in Chengdu\, Sichuan Province\, China\, was founded in 1956 and has been in the process of 63 years. The school focus on the electronics majors\, which are all located in the Qingshui River campus\, more than 70% of the school majors is related to the electronic information industry. DESCRIPTION:Student Open Source Conference (sosconf) is the very first student-held\, student-centered international conference focusing on open source. It will be a great opportunity for students around the world to gather\, connect and learn from each other. For companies and organizations\, it will be a chance to show their commitment to open source and to search for student talents. This year\, the conference will be held at University of Southern California in Los Angeles on September 1\, with mini-events and talks focusing on different technology fields. Students of any education levels around the world are welcome to participate as audience\, volunteers or speakers\, with an opportunity of obtaining travel reimbursement. \n \nOpen-source software is a piece of software whose source code is distributed\, modified and reused by the public with a few restrictions. The emphasis of open-source development on freedom\, collaboration and community appeals to Silicon Valley companies and student organizations alike. \n“sosconf is brought to students\, by students\,” said Ivan\, an undergraduate student at University of Southern California (a.k.a. USC) and Convenor of sosconf 2019 Committee. The conference is organized by an international community of students\, who have also contributed to events such as TEDx\, FOSSASIA\, Jugaad Fest and IBM Developer Day. Some are members of Society of Opening Source SC (a student organization at University of Southern California)\, and some are members of Opening Source Org. On the other hand\, only students are eligible to be speakers and volunteers\, but anyone can participate. Our supporters and supervisors include active community members such as the convenor of GNOME.Asia\, and also include professors from colleges in multiple countries. \n \nReimbursements will be provided to all speakers and volunteers with outstanding work\, and may be extended to Scholar Committee members and a wider range of participants if enough funding is available.
